History and Background Information

Moorside is a busy and active primary school with a long tradition of caring for the academic, social, physical, aesthetic and spiritual needs of local children.

The school was built in the mid 1950's as a separate infant and junior school. In 1985 it was amalgamated to form one primary school for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. The main building includes two halls, offices, kitchen and dining room, sixteen classrooms, a computer suite, a facility for hearing impaired children and numerous group rooms for television, library, craft and other activities.

The school is located in large green space on the southern part of the City of Lancaster half way between Lancaster University and the city centre. It has diverse and attractive grounds with extensive grass play areas, a wild area, gardens, lawns, football pitches and three playgrounds.

Visitors to the school may park their cars in the school car park that can be approached from Bowerham Road. Those new to the area and visiting the school for the first time will find a map with directions to the schoolin the 'Where are we' section of the site.
